I just added a paper to my blog on the painting "Adam; Eve". Also, I added a piece to my Met post that I overlooked when I originally posted it.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

First Paper is Posted

Hi All,

I posted my first paper on my blog - I did ask a question on my blog, but figured I'd ask here just in case... is there a way to post word documents as attachments?? It was a process to post the first paper because I couldn't find any attachment option.

Thanks!

My upcoming schedule of museum visits

Hi, everyone!

This past week was not conducive for museum outings for me. Last weekend I had 3 birthdays (boyfriend Friday, son on Sat. and father on Sunday - whew!) and planning a big party for my dad, which is tonight, because he turned 60. Then, probably from being run down from all the birthday festivities, I was sick all this past week.

This Sunday I am taking a trip to the Met which I am very excited about (even though it is supposed to rain.) I am particularly interested in the Greek & Roman art because we have been reading Greek literature and studying Greek tragedy in my Humanities class. Next week I will be going to the Yale Art gallery, which, from what I understand, also has a Greek art exibit.

Just an FYI to anyone going to the Yale Center for British Art, they only allow photographs on the 4th floor. I meant to post that on my assignment and forgot to.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Trip to Europe

We are planning 3 days in Paris and are really excited about the Louvre. We are also going to see Venice, Rome, Florence, Switzerland and the French Riviera. Katie and I plan to spend as much time in museums as we can. This is the highlight of the trip for us, seeing as much art and architecture as possible.

Good Evening,I am happy to begin the Museum Experience course. During this mod my daughter and I will be going to Europe for 2 weeks and will be visiting some great museums. In the meantime, she and I will visit the local museums. We both are partial to Impressionists, Monet especially, but we are planning to expand our horizons during the next couple of months. This mod, I am also enrolled in the digital photography class and look forward to taking pictures on our adventures.

Welcome to Class!

To get things started, let me tell you a bit about myself.... I have been teaching full time at Albertus Magnus College for the past 29 years and am grateful for the opportunity to spend my life working with students who want to learn more about art. I've been married for the past 34 years, and have 2 wonderful sons, 26 and 29. My older son is married and has an almost 2 year old son. That's Kieran and me at the window in our house recently...  We were blessed to have another grandson born this past Monday!  For now, everyone is together at our house so we are doubly blessed.....

My main interest is photography and I earned an M.F.A. in still photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. At Albertus I teach not only Photography but a range of other courses which include Digital Photography both online and face to face, Foundation Design (2-D and 3-D), Graphic Design, Ceramics, Intro to Computer Art, 20th Century Art History and  The Museum Experience.

To learn more about me, take a look around at my web site,http://jnevins.com. You can find a statement of my teaching philosophy (very student centered), syllabi from my other classes, a resume (called a Curriculum Vita in academic circles), tutorials on digital photography issues, portfolios of my work and more.

I look forward to working with you!
